But the American Red Crosss warning people to think abt the threat it poses this te of year.
Prepare for being out in te heat by drinking lots of fluids.
But the fluids should not e caffeine or alcohol because both of those dehydrate yon a cold on a hot day.
It just accelerates the whe process.
Peter Brown with the Pennsylvania Rivers chaptef the Red Cross says when temperatures soar, it's a d idea to stay inside when possible.
Really up to just be thougl about the amount of activiy you can do in a given day n it's that hot and hot here means 90 degrees plus is ts almost always accompanied h high humidity.
He also advises parents top an eye on kids as summer fn reaches its peak, especialy with small children, a relatively short period ofe outside of their super act, they can become dehydrated within minutes and have jue pops, ice pops, ice cubes, things that will help themy cool and really pay attent.
According to the Mayo Clin, symptoms of heat related illnesses include muscle cramps, nausea or vomiting, weakness, fatigue, headach, excessive sweating, dizzin, or lightheadedness, confus, irritability, low blood pressure, increased heart e or visual problems.
And you can deal with that pretty quickly by just getg them inside to someplace ts cooler giving them a littlt of water, three to four ous every ten or 15 minutes gie their body a chance to reacclimate in cases of exe heat, the Red Cross works h local emergency managemento open cooling centers.
But Brown says public placs like a library or community center are just as effectie when looking to cool off fr PBS39.
